Have you ever accidentally left a Teams meeting?
You go to click something, maybe the Share button to present your screen, and suddenly you're back at your desktop while everyone else is still talking.
Awkward.
For a long time, that was a very believable excuse.
The Quit option in Microsoft Teams has caught out plenty of people, especially during busy meetings when you're moving quickly between controls.
Enough people raised the issue that Microsoft has finally made a change.
Microsoft said it would introduce another way to quit a meeting through the system tray — that small area near the clock on your Windows desktop — and it has now delivered.
The idea is straightforward: Move Quit away from the main group of meeting controls, so you're less likely to hit it by accident.
If you use the desktop version of Teams, you should see the update automatically. There's nothing your IT team needs to enable.
It's not a huge change.
But it is one of those small improvements that removes a bit of everyday frustration.
That said, it doesn't completely remove the risk of clicking the wrong thing.
If you're aiming for Share and accidentally click Leave, you could still drop out of the meeting. We're not quite in a perfect world yet.
However, there is a useful setting many people don't know about.
In Teams, go to Settings, then General, and you'll find an option to turn on a confirmation prompt before leaving a meeting.
That extra "Are you sure?" step can stop you from disappearing at exactly the wrong moment.
And while we're talking about small but useful changes, Microsoft is also rolling out another update that will let you hide the meeting toolbar during calls.
That gives you more screen space and fewer distractions when you're presenting or focusing on shared content.
If your team uses Teams every day, these incremental updates can reduce embarrassment, cut down on disruption, and make virtual meetings feel a little smoother.
And if you've ever vanished mid-sentence from an important call, you now have one less excuse.
